What Scripture says

  • Grace is the means by which we are saved, received through faith — a gift, not earned (Eph 2:8-9).
  • Justification is “freely by His grace” through redemption in Christ (Rom 3:24).
  • Grace and works are mutually exclusive as to earning (Rom 11:6).
  • Grace teaches us to deny ungodliness (Titus 2:12) — it is also a teacher.
  • Grace came through Jesus Christ (John 1:17).
  • Grace is sufficient; strength perfected in weakness (2 Cor 12:9).
  • The throne is a “throne of grace” — we obtain mercy and find grace there (Heb 4:16).
  • God gives grace to the humble, resists the proud (James 4:6).

Connections

  • To Faith — saved by grace through faith (Eph 2:8)
  • To Jesus — grace came through Him (John 1:17)
  • To Mercy — both obtained at the same throne (Heb 4:16)
  • To Humility — grace given to the humble (James 4:6)
  • To Hope — access into grace, rejoice in hope (Rom 5:2)
  • To Works (against earning) — not of works (Eph 2:9; Rom 11:6)

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of grace. We are saved by grace through faith, and not by our own works, so none of us can boast.

Your grace is sufficient for us, and Your strength is made perfect in our weakness. Help us to come boldly to Your throne of grace and to find help in our time of need.

In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
